Can you spot the woodpecker?

He (or she) is looking at the camera. Not a great shot 'cause of the light angle, better luck next time. Woodpeckers are very camera shy.

There still remnants of a chimney here at Whites Gulch. The family opened Marshall Boat Works and were successfuly building and repairing boats for many years.

Bird Rock on the left

With Bodega Head in the distance. Dr. Bob Griffiths anchored his 50 foot ferro-cement ketch inside Bird Rock while waiting for daylight and the high tide to enter Tomales Bay. He had sailed from Hawaii to haul out at Marshal Boat Works. I met him there in the 1980's. His book "Blue water" is very much worth reading.
